Are you an irresponsible forwarder?
- Do you add all your contacts to a forward without thinking if it will be of interest and whether they will really appreciate your forward?
- Do you show a lack of respect for your contact’s privacy by exposing all your contact’s e-mail addresses in the To: field thereby announcing their e-mail address to people they don’t know?
- Does your forward include all the other forwards from other irresponsible forwarders with their comments and contact’s still visible?
- Do you ignore requests from family, friends and associates to please not send them silly e-mails or chain letters and continue to do so anyway?
- Do you get upset with anyone who dare ask they not be on your public forward list?
- Do you just send without vetting the message first to make sure it is true and legitimate at Snopes.com or TruthOrFiction.com before perpetrating a possible hoax?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’re an irresponsible forwarder and need to read my article on the topic.

IS THIS YELLING?
I have friends that have poor eyes, and they use ALL CAPS WHEN WRITING
Is this Unprofessional when communicating to other Business associates?
Thanks
Ron
Hello, Ron:
Isolating any text from the rest of the message and typing it in all caps is adding emphasis. The level of which you are leaving up to the other side to determine. If someone has vision problems and needs to type in all caps they should note as much at the beginning of their e-mail. But with that said, that is a lazy approach. They could easily increase the font size in their e-mail program while they create their e-mail and then put it back to the default before sending. That would be the courteous thing to do. When it comes to business e-mail etiquette one should always try to choose their words carefully to reflect intent and tone instead of relying on formatting. Typing in all caps does reflect a lack of professionalism. Think of it this way — when is it ever acceptable to raise your voice in a business environment? I do have a whole site on Business E-mail Etiquette you may want to check out, in particular Business E-mail and Emphasis.
HTH and thanks for stopping by!
