Blackberry Etiquette

August 26, 2009 by Judith

A site visitor writes:

Do you have information on blackberry etiquette? People are over-using their e-mails, etc., in meetings and personal gatherings alike and i want to write a useful article about e-mail/phone etiquette.

Regardless of the tool used to e-mail, the same courtesies and principles apply in as much as one needs to be cognizant of using their tools in such a way as to not inconvenience or waste other’s time or resources.

If you think about it, e-mailing or cell phone use in meetings or any venue where you would not be respectful of those around you and if not critical to the meeting at hand, is certainly not courteous of other’s time and therefore should be discouraged.

One of the “Courtesies” included in my E-mail Etiquette 101 on my site does cover Instant Messaging. Why not check it out?

COURTESY 5: Use Instant Messaging (IM) or Text Messaging properly with consideration for the person on the other side.
